WRAITH IWB by Gunfighters Inc: By LK
I purchased this holster for review from Gunfighters Inc. It's custom so deliver time was 2 weeks, which I didn't feel was unreasonable. It list for $50.00 their website, but I got $10.00 off with a first responder discount. Shipping was $10.00, which put it on my door step for$50.00.
I used this as my daily carry for a month. I wore it at both the appendix and four o'clock carry positions. The holster is easy to put on and take off with out having to practically undress in the process. The claw attachment came with two different thickness spacers, the thinner one works perfect for me, tucking the grip in enough to aid in concealment, but no so tight that I can't get my hand around the grip.
I'm 5'11" and 235 pounds. My particular body type may affect the way this holster carried for me. This review is solely my experience with a sample size of one.
I'll ling to the Youtube review here when it's done.
1. CONCEALABILITY
Kydex holsters are usually thinner than leather ones making them easier to conceal, especially for IWB. This one is no exception
5 POINTS
2. COMFORT
At times the sweat guard would irritate while wearing at the 3-4 oclock positions. If I re-positioned and pushed it back it was ok. I was more comfortable wearing a light undershirt with this holster.
4 POINTS
3. RETENTION
When holstering you feel and hear a positive click. Hearing the click for me was instant re-assurance that the gun wasn't coming out. I shook it quite vigorously upside down and the gun stayed put.
5 POINTS
4. SAFETY
The trigger is completely covered. The safety is about 50% visible and I was able to deactivate the safety while it was still in the holster.
4 POINTS
5. CONSTRUCTION/QUALITY
I have three complaints here . 1. The kydex material is thing enough that it allows the belt clip attachment point to flex, twice popping it out from under my belt and allowing the holster to ride up out of my pants. 2. The sweat guard doesn't completely accomplish what I expect from one, keeping gun metal off flesh. It's too short (see above safety note). I ordered mine with a 1.5" belt loop and at times have to fidget with it to get the clip under my belt. I feel if I'd ordered the 1.75" clip this wouldn't be a problem. Lastly, 3. Usually holsters like this have a third hole allowing the clip to angled to allow for canted carry. This one doesn't and the clip is attached with rivets instead of screws. I also feel one size thicker material would solve the flex issue.
3 POINTS
6. ESTABLISH PROPER GRIP
The positioning of the clip puts the belt line low enough below the grip that I'm able to establish a full firing grip prior to drawing the handgun and not having to re-establish my grip somewhere in the process.
5 POINTS
7. AFFORDABILITY
In today's market place there is no shortage of $75.00+ holsters that don't do anything that this one doesn't. I appreciate "Name Brand" maker putting out budget friendly quality holster.
5 POINTS
8. APPEARANCE
The holster shows no mold marks caused from excessive heat and all the edges are polished and smooth. With this particular firearm most (leather) are saying order a commander length 1911 holster. It's obvious they have the proper mold for this firearm and the molding it nice and clean.
5 POINTS
CONCLUSION
I gave this holster 35 out of 40 points which equates to a score of 88%
